I collect tin items and this is my first and favorite piece.  Never seen another coffee tin like it.  My maternal grandfather, born in 1903, was a heck of a marble shooter. A picture of Payton with his parents, sister and younger brother.

Awesome family portrait and Battle King Coffee sounds like a brand I'd want to drink. As an aside can I get that FF #13 I see in the background? :foryou:

You can keep the tins, but can I have the stacks of Silver Age in the backround ?

I still collect old super 8mm digests. Betamax and VHS players destroyed that industry. Why settle for a 10 minute digest and have to set up projectors and screens if you could get the whole film right on your TV?

Of course I love the tin, but it also looks like you have some great marbles inside! That looks like a large latticino swirl and possibly a mica right on top, along with lots of other swirls and aggies. That would certainly be a treat for marble collectors to rummage through. :cloud9:

I know very little about marbles. I have bought a couple of batches of them at estate sales, sold them and was very happy with the prices I got. They can be very beautiful.

I know you probably would never sell them but it might be fun to see if you have any good ones. Chances are, with as old as they are, you probably do,

Great Thread!

I used to collect Sports Cards,Ticket Stubs, and Star Wars figures, but lately have been in sell mode on all those trying to raise funds to buy comics. Since my wife and I moved into our new home about two years I have found myself collecting more and more things that go along with the decor of the home (it's a 100 years old this year). I have some old tins, old Ball/Mason jars, vintage advertising, soda memorabilia, and just about anything I think would look cool as decor. Even bought an old Crosley bakelite radio that is just beautiful.

Sounds awsome. Would love to see some pics!

Old paper I found in the basement, Philadelphia Record - Friday, December 9, 1938.

Good comic book year and good pulpy storyline on the front page "Ace G-man Reveals Cash Offer by Nazis for U.S. Navy Secrets"

So brittle it can't be handled, surprised it isn't a pile of brown dust after sitting exposed for 80 years.

Nehi orange and grape soda!  I haven't thought about those in years.

Have a small collection of apothecary jars and bottles.  These are the ancestors of today's plastic pill bottle although they're much different: real gold in the labels and the leftmost blue bottle was hand blown.

A result of watching creature feature and discovering that some lab scene props are real and you can buy them!

I like old handblown poison bottles. They often come in colors and usually have skull and crossbones on them. Plus they sell quickly at shows and bring me back extra comic book money!

Nice cap collection! Love the Indian head beer one. I have a few of them for obvious reasons. All flea market finds. I think the Felix is my favorite.

An old guy told me kids would pry out the cork backs, put the cap on the front of their shirt and push the cork back in from the inside of their shirts. This would make them like pin back buttons.
