Thinking about buying cheap reading copies from MCS. Think there is only 5 issues or so. Opinions on quality of story/art?

Ah, the Tatterdemalion! Haven't read those issues in years but I remember enjoying them. I've always liked the darker supernatural heroes and this series fits the bill. Try them out as it's only 5 readers...

For the right price, definitely.  They're worth it just for the Kubert art alone.

Also, try to find a reading copy of Batman Family 20.

I love Ragman - much under- or even unappreciated series. Great read and for the price of what you can get readers for, go for it.  

I am close to finishing a 9.8 run.  I have a couple of #3s that are 9.8 candidates but haven't sent them in yet.  And since Paul mentioned Batman Family #20 - my original owner copy that I had signed.  I wasn't buying many DCs back then and especially $1 books but loved the cover.

Yeah, isn't it great? I only had issue one for years as a kid till sometime in the 80's I found the rest of the run at a local show. The cover to the first issue is pretty powerful with Ragman watching someone fall to their death. Should be listed as a greytone cover too.
