6.3X production budget before any international updates over the past week including Germany, France and Israel.

This should at least cover Joaquin Phoenix's acting classes Time Magazine spoke of on Metacritic. :insane:

‘Joker’s Smile Widens To $351M Overseas, $544M Global – International Box Office

will be taking R rated BO crown from Deadpool, stunning success

And with the three new markets, two have been updated.

Quote

New openers included France which was a $10.3M start from 630 screens and with a 71% share of the Top 5 films. This is the biggest opening of 2019 for WB in the market and the 2nd best ever for DC (behind The Dark Knight Rises). Likewise, Germany hit similar benchmarks with $9.3M from 912 screens.

Agreed.  Not everybody on here is incapable of acknowledging when some of their predictions are wrong.

That still doesn't change my opinion that the movie was trash.

El Camino was fun.

Not sure why you thought the movie was trash. Want to see how someone who has been krapped on since birth devolves into complete madness? This is it. Want to see how urban society gets close to unraveling... I was a kid during the nyc blackout and riots and looting and arson and we just sat there that night praying it didn't come to us, a mile or two away ... This is it. Want to see some corny joker from the 60s tv show? Not so much. This is a Scorsese movie from the 70s. It is taxi driver in clown makeup. And frankly, it wasn't dated. F-ing super rats. My childhood terror.

I stated my reasons several pages back.  In a nutshell ...

The messaging of the movie is offensive.  Blaming "society"/"the man" for being un-accomplished loser in your mid 40's, twirling a sign on street corners, getting beaten up by teenagers and super scary businessmen, is a massive turn off.  The idea of this pansy becoming a super villain to rival Batman is preposterous.  Throwing in some alleged "mental illness" to further excuse/explain murderous behaviour is also offensive in its own right.

The pacing of the film was bad.  The dialogue mostly pedestrian. Comparing this to Taxi driver is obvious, but off the mark.  This is the movie that Taxi Driver and King of comedy ate for dinner last night along with some bad weed and tequila, and diaharreahed out the next morning.

I didn’t consider it a masterpiece or trash. I think people calling it a masterpiece are just caught up in Phoenix’s amazing performance. He alone carries the movie. I didn’t find anything offensive but then again I don’t get offended easily. The violence was not over the top as I read in some reviews. I was expecting The Devils Rejects level violence when I went in the theater. None of the Jokers kills will stick with me like the aluminum bats near the end of Casino. Overall, I enjoyed the movie and hope they continue making quality stand alone one-shots.

Yep, those two films and that one scene from Casino occurred to me as well as being far worse than anything in Joker.  Plus you could just keep picking films--any Saw movie, any Leatherface movie, etc, all far more gratuitously violent explorations of deviant behavior than Joker.
