That seemingly implies that the Joker character himself may not have much screen time?

Kind of a turn-off, if so. I don't think many people care about much of the Joker's backstory. I don't.

Everyone, including you, will care if the story is good.

THis looks 100 times better than what we are actually seeing with his makeup.

Totally agree. Not really feeling the way he looks in the promo stuff.

Yes, but I need to see the Joker do Joker things. There are plenty of movies with good stories. The film is titled "The Joker" after all.

It needs to be a combination of both.

Edit: I'm basically saying that somewhere around the half-time mark, he needs to be doing Joker things. Or, a mix of his "regular" personality doing a lot of Joker things mixed in throughout after a breaking point. It can't just be a person's story, and at the end, he is just revealed to go full-Joker. It wouldn't be fulfilling.

Wait. Are you saying the Joker should be doing 'Joker things'? Now I get what you mean.

:preach: :baiting:

Let's see what's in that first trailer.

Interesting observation someone pointed out to me yesterday.

Joker makes a movie without Batman = most comic book oldtimers accept it.

Venom makes a movie without Spider-Man = most  comic book oldtimers don't accept it.

hm

Where do you draw this observation from?

I was open-minded to a Venom movie, despite not jiving with the character being an anti-hero rather than a villain, and not deriving his origin in the prototypical expectation. The movie was bad, though.

The Joker hasn't even had a trailer yet. It's too early to speculate on "acceptance".

It's really hard to compare the two. Joker is THE comic book villain for one of, if not the biggest comic book hero. Venom, while great, isn't even the top Spider-man villain (for many people).

Joker has had a past in the movies with multiple great performances. Venom has not had any. So, it is much easier to see Joker having his own movie.

In the end though, it all comes down to the quality of storytelling. Is the movie good or not.
