Strange bar code on detective comics.. 0

What is the barcode on the bottom left?  Second, third, fourth print??? Some other variant?  I think I may have seen one years ago but I can't remember for sure   Anyone got any info?  Thanks

What's confusing is that it looks like a Bruce Timm batman the animated series drawing, which didn't come out until '92 I think.

That is friggin weird. Why is there half a caduceus there at all, a giveaway from a doctor's office?

Upon further review I see it is not a caduceus, it's the staff of Aesculapius.  Oh yeah, it all makes sense now!

The Bat image is much later than the book, and is  also after DC routinely reprinted these Batbooks. Can't say anything else about it.

I can't get over how bad Canary's costume is. I'm glad I completely missed this period in DC.

There was some great stuff going on at DC in that period, but also a lot of head scratchers.   Death of Supergirl and Barry Allen, Titans, great storyline in Legion that spanned about 15 month that had everyone convinced that Supergirl hadn't died but was the new mystery Legionaire, Allan Moore on Superman, Bolland doing Camelot 3000.
