I think I'm going to enjoy this thread. The Life letters were really interesting, as the tension between isolationism and involvement is pretty obvious. Jack Kirby was at the 39 Word's fair: He was 21 at the 39 opening. 1939 Worlds Fair was the first exposition to be based on the future, with an opening slogan of "Dawn of a New Day", and it allowed all visitors to take a look at "the world of tomorrow". The only major world power that did not participate for the 1939 season was Germany. for some reason I always thought it was on a small island I didn't know it was in queens. I saw that in 1940 newspapers started reporting the Japanese killed her. As with most my 1939 history I'm embarrassed to say I don't know the details.
