thehumantorch
Picked up the rest of this collection today. His list had 144 boxes and a number of prints and posters. We picked up about 50 boxes and all the prints and posters a couple weeks ago. I figured a cargo van would be plenty big enough for the last 94 boxes. What I didn’t know was some of the boxes on the list were actually several or many boxes and there were about 150 boxes to haul home. it was a real struggle to pack and I’m sure the cargo van was overweight. I couldn’t help but imagine blowing a tire during the 100 mile drive home. side door back door part way loaded still to pack passenger seat
kav
shouldn't this be some kind of pedigree? thehumantorch
thehumantorch
I’d hoped to store the rest of the collection in my garage but this was too much. Had to rent a storage locker. There was nobody in the storage facility office and they didn’t answer their phone when I called the number on the door. There was an automated machine similar to an ATM for renting a locker so I figured let’s give it a go. I got s live person on the other end of the machine and she walked me through the rental. Aside from the expected information I also had to place my drivers licence in a scanner and I had to place my index finger in a fingerprint scanner. I also needed to purchase a lock and the ATM could charge me for that and drop the lock into a tray below. Thus all took about 30 minutes and the machine failed to bend my lock as promised. At that point the storage locker employee came back from lunch and she told me she’d never seen anyone use the ATM machine before. Great. Curiously, her name was Delight (spelling?). Credit to me, I managed not to point out she had a porn star name. She looked at the forms the machine had printed and told me they were all wrong. Took another 30 minutes to redo the forms and she gave me a lock.

Please note we haven't bought this yet and this isn't a sales thread. The primary focus is anything, and I mean anything, about or by Steranko. Collector is also into Gulacy and Dave Stevens. There's 144 boxes of books and a pile of prints and posters. There's certainly lots of comics but there's also tons and tons of fanzines, convention program books, Magazines, newspaper clippings, posters, etchings, Trades, art books, etc. it's a real challenge for us to assign a valuation on this collection as there's all kinds of stuff we've never seen and there are multiple copies of many items and some of it is signed. 144 boxes of books!? That's just gross Good luck with it - love some Steranko!
