The Life and Times of Uncle Scrooge.  Best Origin story ever!

And, of course, lots more quality, all-ages fun with Scrooge and Donald in the numerous Carl Barks and Don Rosa comic book reprints.

I read ASM 121-122 when I was 8 years old. (shrug)

I read my first copy of Skywald's Psycho magazine when I was 9 years old.

Not a great idea. :whatthe:

Especially the day I had a dentist's appointment.

Barks's "Lost in the Andes" and Rosa's sequel, "Return to Plain Awful", are superb stories. The Fantagraphics reprints are well-made and perfect for a child.

They are both master cartoonists, however, some of the humor in Barks' work is anachronistic, and may be difficult to explain to a child. Also, Barks's stories occasionally have images displaying racial stereotypes of their time.

Rosa's work, on the other hand, is easily accessible for all ages.

You can't go wrong with Barks' Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge.

I'd also recommend watching Nickolodeon's Avatar:The Last Airbender cartoon with supplemental reading of the Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Lost Adventures stories that take place between or supplement the cartoon episodes.  Then when you have finished all three season, you move on to the comic series that picks up right after the last cartoon epidsode.

Hero Bear at Amazon

This story should be a holiday tradition in every household.  It's wonderful.

Mike Kunkel is very talented.

Great cartoonist.

Agreed.  And I honestly think that if this particular story was turned into an animated Christmas movie, ti would be a holiday classic.  It has every element.

It's a great entry level comic book, super hero book... everything.

For those who haven't read it, picking up the TPB is a great idea.  Especially if you have kids
