Aldis Hodge, who starred in City on the Hill and appeared in this year’s remake of The Invisible Man, has nabbed the high-flying role of Hawkman in Black Adam and is now in final negotiations to join New Line's action-adventure thriller featuring the DC Comics antihero starring Dwayne Johnson.

Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed Johnson in the upcoming Disney adventure film Jungle Cruise, is directing.

Longtime Johnson collaborator Beau Flynn is producing via FlynnPictureCo., along with Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia via their Seven Bucks Productions. Scott Sheldon will oversee for FlynnPictureCo. and will also serve as executive producer.

The story is tied to 2019's hit Shazam! and centers on the character who was first created as that squinty-eyed hero's archnemesis but evolved into a more layered individual.

An enticing factor for fans is the introduction in Black Adam of the Justice Society of America, a multi-generational group that preceded the Justice League. Characters Atom Smasher (to played by Noah Centineo), as well as Doctor Fate and Cyclone, who have yet to be cast, will figure into the story.

I'm really surprised "those guys" haven't shown up yet when this casting was announced.  :roflmao:

That digital image looks amazing.  I'd be shocked if it looks half as good as that.

I don't know. Dwayne Johnson's production company is going all out for this film to make it a huge win. And with Aldis Hodge, he's a very fit dude. He's the detective in The Invisible Man.

If he focuses on bulking up, we may be surprised what ends up on the screen come December 2021.

Hawkman is an underappreciated JL character.

Even with the Smallville Carter Hall he beat Green Arrow a few times to make it clear who the real dark and dangerous character was on the show. They were fun episodes.

No idea if he is natural or not, but you are correct he has the world at this fingertips.  Hulk Hogan probably cries himself to sleep at night wondering why he never took off like the Rock did in film.

Hogan is a blatant racist.

It looks like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's passion project has found yet another hero to join its ranks. The long-in-development Black Adam movie is finally gearing up for production, and it's putting together a pretty stellar cast. After enlisting Aldis Hodge and Noah Centineo to play DC heroes in the film, Johnson's project has called on Person of Interest alum Sarah Shahi to fill another one of its main roles. The particulars of Shahi's character, however, have yet to be revealed.

According to Deadline, Shahi's casting in the New Line project is a done deal, but the report doesn't confirm the name of her character. The site simply states that Shahi will play a "university professor and freedom fighter leading the resistance in Kahndaq." That said, the news of Shahi's potential casting was reported earlier in the month by The Illuminerdi, who said that the actress was taking on the role of Isis, the well-known DC Comics character.

Both reports about the nature of Shahi's character can be true. This unnamed university professor could easily be the movie's version of Isis, only with a different name. Given that Isis is more closely associated with a real-life terrorist organization than a comic book character, it would make plenty of sense to give the hero a different name.

Someone is definitely committed to his role. And without a streaming show covering his workouts. (:

I'm just glad to see the rock finally hitting the gym.  If he gets any bigger he's going to look like something out of a cronenburg movie.
