well,  before Gator or any other more knowledgeable boardies show up. I'll take a stab at it.

this coverless, trimmed, married copy sold on Heritage back in August of this year for $8,962.50.

I would guess that a nice complete coverless, that has no other issues like married pages, trimming, tape, resto, etc. would be around $12k.

as to price per point, I would say that would vary widely depending on eye appeal, if we are just talking unrestored (blue) label books, I would estimate that a nice presenting, complete blue label CGC 1.0 with decent eye appeal would be in the $30-$40k range. again, just a guess.

I’ve been looking forever for a blue label low-grade Batman 1 forever with no luck whatsoever.

No time payments needed!

Have you created a WTB ? Occasionally bump it and maybe one day you'll get lucky.

The sad thing is the market value for a very low grade copy (like Detect #31) has jumped up from $10k to $30k+ during that time frame.

Thanks for the replies. By the time I save the money it will probably be forever out of reach. There is a Batman 1 for sale local but I am still trying to get a price for it but doubt it will be in a price range I can afford.

Dont worry

i havnt got one either.

lifes still bearable though.

12K for a nice coverless copy sounds reasonable, if not even a little bit low. Many coverless copies are missing the 1st-2nd wraps and centerfold. If a trimmed and married example is pushing 9K, unrestored would be a lot more.

Not many books in the hobby better than this one though, so you can't go wrong.

a nice looking 2.0 blue sold earlier this year for $75k, and it was flipped for more after that. $40K/point is reasonable. So, I imagine a nice, complete, non brittle coverless could go $20k...otherwise a ratty, brittle, but complete coverless could be in the $15k - $17k range...

What we've been seeing over the past year or so is a strong bump in cost for coverless mega key GA books.

First low grade complete copies pulled out of range for most, then low grade restored copies pulled out of range for most.

You could have picked up a nice coverless Batman #1 for 4-5K as recently as 5 years ago (correct me if I'm mistaken), that's no longer the case. When certain grade-tiers get priced out for most collectors, they rush to the next rung on the ladder.

How is Bats 1 and Cap 1 both at about 40k a point yet a coverless Bats 1 will sell for more (based on what people on this thread are saying) yet the supply for Bats 1 appears to be higher than Cap 1

One of my other areas of collecting is vintage electric guitars, starting in the early 90's the art of ageing new guitars to look like beat up old ones started to catch on in a very big way to where now there are specialists who will make brand new shiny guitars look just like 50 year old relics. It would seem a natural extension to take a high quality reprint of a Batman 1 or action 1 and yellow the corners, detach the covers, fake some bug chews etc and make it look like an old attic find. As noted above, without the building on the lower left, definitely a reprint.
