dust shadows? 0

A friend just bought a book with a couple dust shadows.  Is there any way to remove them or lighten them without it being "restoration"?

Thanks dad... I'll post a pic of the rag in question when I get home.  Main question I had is will sending this to ccs for a press and clean do anything to affect the appearance and/or grade.

I don't mind losing a little money to make it look better, I like this book a lot.

appreciate any input or advice.

So ....uhhh.... what can I do for this beauty that wont put it in a purple label? Home remedies...professional services...all recommendations welcome.  Any advice appreciated.

Dust shadows are damage to the integrity of the paper (in the lesser sense) and can't be undone without some level of restoration.  I don't know how its done but I know I've had books with dust shadows sent for cleaning and pressing and they've been there upon return.

For whatever it's worth to anyone, had a few people tell me this looks like surface dirt and dust shadows, the latter of which happen due to UV damage to the paper that is irreparable. 

I like this book enough that I'll get it cleaned and pressed through ccs and will post the after pic when it returns to me in a year or two.
