Yup, that's a very healthy jump.  I love these early covers, and currently own the #27, but I was watching this one too.

I'm content with how my consignments (Byrne West Coast Avengers and Davis Wolverine splash) bid on a few things and lost. I think the final price of those items were still decent deals but I didn't have to have them so  I'm ok with losing out.

Hope the consigners and bidders did well today!

I'm sorry ,can some one tell me what "replacement dress" is ?

If they are talking about "Trade Dress"....title, logo, cover stats....then it's got to be replacements of those.

Those outlines...not a fan...reminds me of a cheesy Photoshop filter.

Good call!  I never saw that comparison until you said it! lol

No matter, I always really loved this drawing.  So different than what we're used to seeing from Jim and well done IMO.  Price reflected that I think.

The 20 page KULL ended at 31k.

Was this a good buy for someone who plans to break it up?

I was having a debate about this one with a friend - I thought it was a good deal; about $1.5K/page for early BWS doing Kull, surely that's a nice deal given how much even a lot of new stuff with ink barely dry goes for??

Some other random thoughts:

$44,000 for the Barks Duck painting - I genuinely have no idea if this is a good or bad result.  Thoughts?

$26,361 for that James Jean painting did pretty well I thought...seem to recall this one not getting much love in the past.

$22,694 for the Bissette/Yeates Swamp Thing strikes me as nutty, even if it is from an early Moore issue.

$19,750 for the Byrne Man of Steel seems very healthy to me.

$15,277 for the Geiger Hulk #337 cover is a shocker to me.  Nice cover, but, as another friend remarked, "who is Steve Geiger???"  Exactly!!

$9,766 for the Romita ASM #117 title splash - didn't this one sell in the (mid?) teens not long ago?

$8,100 for the Anacleto Warlord of Mars cover...wow.  Cool cover (if you're into soft porn), but...wow.

$5,550 for the Grell Warlord #39 cover - seems low to me, but, explainable by my longstanding and more-often-than-not-proved-empirically-correct observation that more ink on the page does more better at auction, all other things (image/content/historical importance) being equal (but, like the Laffer Curve, up to a point - obviously there's a tipping point).  This one just didn't have a lot of black on the page.

$3,700 for the Frank-ly hideous Frank Miller Elektra illustration.  Where did this one sell in the primary market?  Much higher I would think...

$3,622 for the Gulacy MOKF #25 page.  Seems very low to me after a friend recently told me about all these Gulacy MOKF pages that have sold privately for 5-figures, especially given the comparable/superb action content of this page.

$2,600 for the Miller/Janson DD #190 Elektra origin page.  I'm shocked by this one - no costumes, but, this is a VERY memorable page from the Elektra origin sequence and that price just seems way low.  I might have been tempted to bid had I known it was going to go this cheaply.

$1,100 for the Gonzalez Vampi #24 splash.  This was my consignment and someone got a bargain at my expense.  Gonzalez panel pages are regularly selling for $1800-$2200 these days; this splash sold for less than half of FMV.  I have the worst luck at auction...

Certainly a memorable cover and from one of my favorite issues, but yeah that's really high, especially since it's not Bissette/Totleben.  I'd have loved to get it, and thought I might have been in the running until it started taking off near the end of bidding.
