Little Giant Comics says HELLO

Just wanted to say HELLO, been with CGC since 2014, I know a lot of you guys. I'm on FB at Little Giant Comics and have littlegiantcomics.com.

I wanted to share my buddy Matthew DiMasi's incredible ceramic tile mosaics. Each piece takes 100-150 hours to complete. he free hand draws the cover then literally shatters ceramic tile and places individual tiny pieces on a backer board. Once all the pieces are in place grout is applied.  He caught the eye of someone at Marvel and got to make a store variant for his store Shattered Comics. The first variant he did was for spidey #789. An image of his ceramic tile homage to ASM 129 was used for the cover. His next cover is going to be Daredevil #597. He is using an image of the ceramic tile mosaic homage he did to DD #158 honoring Frank Miller. Anyway, wanted to share. Enjoy

There were actually about 2200 sold. I kept a case and Matt kept the rest. We sent some in the be graded, sent a few to Stan Lee for sigs, a few to John Romita for sigs and gave a ton out to friends and family. This being Matt's first published work he was handing them out like butterscotch at an AARP meeting.

So you can take someone else's published art, run it through a computer program, and call it your own published work? Seems shady to me.

Plus, those are some ugly azz reprints (they aren't variants)

So...the big pieces in your pics are actual hand-made (tile? glass?) mosaics, which are then photo-reduced and published by Marvel as variant covers?

If that's the case, neither your original post nor your website descriptions are terribly clear on that point, which might account for some of the snark here...

Those mosaic pieces take 100-150 hours to complete, far from a computer program His pieces are owned by Stan Lee, Todd McFarlane, Frank Miller, Kelly Jones to name a few. His pieces sell for 30-50K, far from a computer program, But you are entitled to your opinion. If you don't like them I respect your opinion. Hope you have a great day :)

Yes, they are. I should have been more clear. The snark I can deal with. I am new here. I almost expect some pushback.

Sorry for the confusion. These are ceramic tile mosaics created by Matthew DiMasi. Each piece takes 100-150 hours to complete. The image is hand drawn and then colored ceramic tile is literally smashed and tiny pieces are hand placed on the tile backer board. after all the pieces are attached the grout is applied then the piece is off to the frame painter. A high res image is used for the cover of a store variant put out by Matt at Shattered Comics.
