Dr. Solar Gold Key #2 registry set - what's left

These comics remain from the CGC #2 registry set for Doctor Solar.  The series began in 1962 with the first Gold Key superhero comic, flavored with a science fiction theme in much the same vein as Green Lantern.  Every issue sports a cool painted science fiction themed cover.  Early Gold Keys are much, much harder to find in decent shape than Marvels or DCs from that period, and every copy in this run is in unrestored near mint or better condition.

The particulars:  List prices are firm - everyone has a shot at my best price without the need to haggle.  Shipping is free, where noted, or otherwise $14 in the US.  Other locations will cost a bit extra.  Payments are accepted by check, money order, or PayPal.  There are no returns on CGC graded comics, unless a book arrives damaged in spite of my bomb proof shipping.  Disclosure: None of the comics was pressed under my ownership, or to my knowledge beforehand.

  • Doctor Solar #27
  • cgc 9.4 white
  • $95

Later issues in the series are especially scarce in high grade condition.

Another stellar book from the exceptional Dahlberg pedigree, with its certificate of authenticity.  Published 50 years ago, the comic looks brand new.  Cool cover painting depicts an army of split Solars being overwhelmed by fantastic alien beings.

Terrific robot cover painting.  Even after 18 years of encapsulation, this is the highest graded.  Snow white pages, to boot.

Spectacular front and back cover painting by Richard Powers, a member of the Science Fiction Hall of Fame.  This copy has deep, rich cover inks, full gloss, and clean unfaded paper stock.  This ish is extremely scarce in sweet shape, and the last sale of a high grade copy recorded in GPA is an 8.5 copy sold in 2016 for $600 - this copy crushes it.

And finally,

  • Doctor Solar #1
  • cgc 9.4 ow/w
  • $4,200 shipped and insured within the US

Topped in the census by a lone 9.6 copy (the Pacific Coast) and 1 of 3 graded near mint.  This is the first Gold Key hero comic, published way back in '62.  Is there any cover art more sensational from that era than this sci-fi stunner from Richard Powers?
