DC recently did this. Tanked the prices on Superman Unchained variants, among others.

None of these are sought after. It's widely known that EVERY comic from the Big 2 have more printed than are ordered.

It isn't entirely true none of these are sought after.  The Star Wars b&w/sketch variants are easy sells at the right price.  And it is interesting seeing the Star Wars #1 GameStop exclusive in the mix.

Yes, but the Big 2 have the largest buying audience. This is a dream for a smart retailer who orders correctly. There might be
maybe 10 books I would order, but I would order multiple copies and sit on them at that price. Retailers who don't are just
passing up pure profit.

So what's the problem?  If all variants are guaranteed to make money everybody would be investing in them.

 

This gives me an opportunity to add some cool variants to my comic collection for cheap.  Nothing but good news here.

I just realized All New Inhumans #5 hip hop variant is on that list. It was a $300 raw book at one time.
