I love that Lois Lane cover...illustrates one of Supe's glaring weaknesses...terrible peripheral vision apparently.

Well, since I basically just found out about comic grading about 6 months ago, I basically went ham and bought the books I always wanted as a kid.  As a child of the 90's, Venom was all the rage so it's no big surprise that one of my holy grails was ASM #300.  Well, fast forward almost 30 years and I'm now an adult with a little expendable income.  This was one of the first big books I bought and I've only dug further down the rabbit hole from here.

 

The Silver Surfer was my favorite character growing up, so this key was a no brainer.

 

After getting scammed out of a book on eBay, I found myself in the unfortunate position of getting stuck with hundreds of dollars in eBay gift cards.  Not knowing what to spend it on, I decided to make it worth my while and got another holy grail, Fantastic Four #48 (again, because of my love for the Surfer).

 

2017 was a much more expensive year than I had anticipated, but I feel a little bit of completion knowing that I own some of these books that I could only dream of as a child.  There aren't too many major keys left on my want list (FF 49/50, SS 4 to complete the Silver Surfer essentials) so I may turn my focus to minor keys in a raw format (Thanos Quest, and ASM 252 to finish my Venom keys) for 2018.

Some tough decisions for me. I'm not going to try to compete with some of the wonderful GA and SA books posted, so I will list my 3 "Most Fun" acquisitions of 2017!  

First, I have been looking for a Neal Adams' Batman 251 in White Pages for a while and was thrilled to find a wonderfully centered 9.6 copy.  Second, I am a big Los Bros Hernandez , Love and Rockets,  fan. I have a graded copy or two of the 1981 issue, but this is a copy from Gilberto that is almost perfect that I would love to have Jaime also sign!!  Finally, a Phil Jimenez 9 x 12 sketch colored by Nei Ruffino.

Fantastic Four 48 CGC 6.0 - wanted to go higher, but really liked the look of this 6.0 and I like that it is a Berk Book

 

Fantastic Four #49 CGC 7.0 - Since I managed to get the FF48 I had to get the Fantastic Four #49 to go with it :

 

Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey Original Art Page - Jurgens and Breeding - been searching for one for quite some time, so happy to add it to the collection

 

I also picked up a copy of X-Men #4 CGC 4.0 but sadly no pictures handy
