For example I bought the Lenil Daredevil piece off the boards at a 9.6, it went through several price drops solely based upon the grade. I paid little to add the artwork and color to the piece and now its a 9.8 and have four different PM asking if I would sell it and two with offers well over what I paid for the 9.6.......I am not selling it but it stands to reason that I was correct in my assessment. I caught hell at ECC two years ago for letting Alex Sinclair color my Mignola Hellboy sketch......like I colored over a Picasso. It came out beautiful but by many that was an act of sacrilege. I get the purists and I have many pieces that will remain quite simple but some I want to enhance the way I choose......I am not flipping books......just love the hobby. I know I am preaching to the choir with you. Grades don't bother me as much as it does some. I just didn't have the funds at the time dude was selling I also copped flack when I brought up the idea to have my Phil Noto sketch colored. Based on what I've seen, I'd rather have Ash do a sketch for me than many "famous" comic artists who seem to put little to no true effort into their over-priced commissions. I've gotten some real head-scratchers from big-name artists. Yes, the name of an artist can add value but, at the end of the day, does it really matter if you're unhappy with the commission? Could not agree more! Hence the reason I have not hesitated to ask Ash to either add, enhance or fix sketches from other artists. You have seen the Daredevil but here are examples of others He added color to this Timms and Jae Lee sketch after stray ink caused a down grade...... He covered a huge stain on this Hulk after Greg Horn sketch caused a down grade..... He added color to these Frank Miller's after Joe Rubenstein went ink crazy to cover stray ink that caused a down grade.... I too want to see more posting, I enjoy seeing other commissions, ideas, etc.. I have reached out to artists solely based upon work viewed in this thread.
