This cover is horrible, and anyone who says otherwise is a liar!

Here's a two-fer. Both are Moderns, and they're both hideous in their own special way.

This one just looks so amateurish, and I'm not a fan of Storm's new look and codename: Horseface.

Steve, you’re clearly not as much of a John Byrne fan as I am, so what’s your assessment of this classic cover?

Interesting use of empty space, or phoned-in laziness?

I'm LATE to the party but this is easily in my all-time top 5 of covers.

Hey, Ken. What's with the sad face! I thought we agreed earlier this cover was ruff? :taptaptap:

@Ken Aldred

Looking back at the statement I made, as posted above, I'm going to support Byrne's use of emptiness here.

Besides being a huge Byrne fan to begin with, I also like other artists who use blank space and minimalism, such as Alex Toth.

Apart from the fact that she looks like she's had one too many pies, what is going on with MJ's right leg here?

And Spidey's arm to leg length ratios?

Second printing? I'd have abandoned the first personally :p

While I do have to agree that the horse faced crossdressing Mary Jane is one of the worst ASM covers , This one still definitely deserves its fair share of hate.20200709_101547.jpg.d925e40d4385f8aefe291b9f7a8b2c39.jpg

next thing you know there will be a crossover where Superman starts dating Fat Mary Jane..20200709_101908.jpg.95721991756a0c70f0a678c3b9f5d7c4.jpg

Or maybe she will be into Steel?

Yeah but that face, neck, come to think of it even their legs and thighs look short like this might be a Dwarf Superman and Steel. When it comes to Man Mane from the 80's style... Wella , Where the action is...20200709_112906.jpg.07044922ce1d88310a032467a04dc3f0.jpg
