Lucas lost his muse long ago.  The prequels were boring AF.  Jar Jar Binks?  Pod racers?  Killin younglings because he was mad his mom died when he had TEN YEARS to go buy her out of slavery?  That's his 'motivation'?  What a crock.  We have to believe he forgot he had a mom for ten years then suddenly remembered 'oh yeah better go get her' to swallow the character motivation as written.  Yeah no.

It's a little known fact that Jedi trainees don't start accruing annual leave until after 10 years on the job.  Blame Ewan McGregor for not booking an excursion to Tattoine during that time.

I'm 48 (well tomorrow I will be), so I'd say that Buzz and I are in the same "generation".  Not one of my friends or the people I deal with said they refused to watch Solo because Ford was not in it.  I've honestly never heard that claim before now.  I didn't see Solo (nor did a fair amount of people my age that I know see it) because most of us agreed that Episode VII was mediocre, and Episode VIII was garbage.

After seeing Episode VIII I made a conscious decision to not see anymore Star Wars movies, not Solo, not Episode IX this December, none of them.  I'm not the only one I know that thought like that.

I agree with everything you said, most people feel this way. It had nothing to do with Ford not being in the movie, it was people departing the SW franchise due to the new trilogy!

Happy Birthday BTW!

She probably only had Republic credits, which were no good according to that gremlin with hummingbird wings.  Guess he couldn't convert them into Bitcoin or sugar water or whatever currency was good.

@kav What took you so long to get to this thread?

Star Wars really peaked @ ESB to be honest, but TLJ?

That movie is the nail in the coffin!

every single SW after Return of the Jedi is a joke.  They get progressively worse each time.  Movies made by committee. I did not watch SOLO and I will not watch the next one or any other.  I am done.

Battlefield Earth was better than the last Star Wars with Leia flying thru space like Mary Poppins and suddenly someone uses hyperspace as a weapon like NO ONE EVER THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE.  If thats how it works hyperspace missiles would make star destroyers and death stars as easy to defeat as swatting a fly.

Exactly!!  If Hyperspace worked like that all they would have had to do is put a R2 unit in an x-wing and the Star Destroyer in Episode IV would have been done for.  Screw the plans that the Bothans died getting for the rebellion.

It's all just so idiotic.  Thx Kathleen Kennedy!

Also why did that Jurassic park chick wait so long to do it?  "Gee I think I'll wait till all our ships are destroyed first tee-hee!"

Another huge screenplay gaffe was the entire casino planet scene-it was totally unnecessary and did not move the plot forward one iota.  It was just a lame vanity piece for that annoying Rose Tiko.  :pullhair:

That scene was one of the worst in the Star Wars franchise.  I felt like I was watching something from a Harry Potter movie.

You should try watching movies with an open mind instead of feeling the need to scrutinize and analyze them.

Have you ever written a screenplay?

All your bloviated drek/rubbish/industrial waste is suffocating

Everything you've typed here is woefully misinformed and hypocritical.

That was your experience and I do not doubt that.  When the usuals were getting tickets like we do for most Marvel and SW movies the guys in my group echoed what I stated.

If TLJ was so great and it was just a minority of vocal fans who shouted it down then why haven’t we heard anything recently regarding RJ’s new trilogy? In fact, the only one who’s still talking about it is RJ, and that seems only when he’s asked about it. One of his most recent comments was along the lines of “I’m still waiting to hear from Disney.”

So in other words, The Mouse House does not share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.

Very easy answer to that.  Disney is pandering.  Look at TFA.  That was pandering and a revisit of “greatest hits.”  Disney has no vision here and is pandering to what they think people want.

I agree with comments that suggested that Kennedy should have emulated the Marvel way and said here is the playbook.  You have to get from point A to B As we have outlined.  Whether you take a train or a bus or a plane is up to you.
