Are mylar bags required for moderns?

I’ve noticed that newer comics from the last 10 years do not tend to wrinkle regular poly bags like comics from earlier eras printed on cheaper paper.  Should these comics still be placed in mylar or do they deteriorate less quickly over time than older comics?

They certainly may "deteriorate less quickly over time than older comics," but if you can afford them, then go for it.  If not for your whole collection, then at least start with your most prized possessions and then work backwards from there. It's the board that really matters (insert E. Gerber link here.)
