Actually, I was first.  I screamed "I'll take it" within 0.2 seconds of the post, but the speed of sound travels 343 m/s so it won't reach the ears of the seller... until about now.

With his rules, it is clear who the book should go to, the first  

as it turns out, and is proven, it was not you. Yet, at this point, you are still suggesting the book should go to you. 

-to be fair, at this point, you hadn’t seen Miraclemet prove that he took it before you, so you were still unsure. 

But you still chose to accept the book, even after seeing that it should rightfully go to Miraclemet. 

-your insistence to your view of the rules being correct is what made Holmes choose to sell the book to you.

The seller's first public response was that the PM'd  came before yours. It was only after he was berated for "breaking the rules" that he changed his mind. No rules were broken. The PM should take it.

Right.....and you CLEARLY and LOUDLY stating all the rules he violated, and the you were the only proper buyer for the book, and the only "fair and square" buyer,  and he was running afoul of board policy....all of which were 100% false and wrong...had nothing at all to do with the decision he came to "on his own terms". 

If he used ANY of your claims about rules, forum selling guidelines, or etiquette then the seller was misled. Plain and simple. That was what led him to change his mind and give you the book. It was based on utter and complete garbage reasoning and claims to rules being violated that don't exist. 

I am glad you're feeling good enough about this to say the issue here isn't about who's right or wrong about the rules. That's usually what people who are wrong would say. 

If you were really worried about respecting the seller's decision then you would have RESPECTED HIS DECISION without injecting a false narrative about the rules and his violation of the same in order to get what you wanted and get him to change his mind.

Look at the reason for thirdgreenham's edit.  It appears that he said 'I'm sorry followed by a nasty name that was blocked by the softwear.  He's clearly not acknowledging that he made up anything about the seller being pressured.

It's clear your posts about imaginary rules convinced the seller that he had broken board rules.

only Holmes can say if he felt pressure from dem, but out of worries that this was where it was headed I wanted Holmes to be able to avoid drama with dem's criticisms and objections (and thus freed him to do whatever he needed to).

im a big believer in comic book karma and I figured a giving spirit towards the sellers situation was the right thing.

I will PM the seller and offer to cancel the sale and return the book. He’s already shipped it to me but if he at all feels like he made a mistake or was pressured into selling it to me then he can certainly have it back and he can again sell it to whomever he wants.

My 2 cents. The seller felt 100% pressured to sell the book to you after you had your public tantrum of demanding the book and crying foul. 

The rules set by the seller were First Take It. Not first take it in the thread, just first take it. Your Take It was second. Second does not equal first.

Congrats on berating the seller into selling you the book. You embarrassed yourself. Hope it was worth it.
