CGC will open an office in London in April

The idea is great, but have they thought about Brexit? GB won't be in the EU anymore in 1 year. Would it not have been better to open an office in an EU country? Because every collector from an EU country will have to go through the same procedure with customs and export/import papers like when shipping to the USA. Sure, it won't cost the same amount of postage but the time and effort and the hassle with everything that comes with it, will stay the same.

Shhhhhhh.

what are you doing?

Just because some insufficiently_thoughtful_persons voted out doesn't mean we should suffer, plus...

What are you doing?

It's pretty obvious why they wouldn't. They visit several Canadian shows and they are not too far for all intensive purposes. It just wouldn't be worthwhile.

Opening an office in London is a brilliant stroke. The population of the UK alone is nearly triple that of Canada and you have many other European countries surrounding.

I don't know what surprised me more... Us missing 35 million people in the last census or you guys having all that wasted space.

First Heritage, and now CGC have discovered London. Will Metro open up an office in the Smoke as well? :tink:

As long as the CGC are not staffed and equipped to carry out the grading on site in Londonistan,    it will basically be a drop off point, wont it?

Good news for European collectors, comics and otherwise.     Being Canadian, it would be fantastic to have a Canadian office location, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty close to zero given the size of Canada and the relatively small population versus the US or most other European countries.

It was signed as one of those post Brexit trade deals  the UK will be able to do around the world now. Next it will be Yorkshire Puddings to China and Jellied Eels to Saudi Arabia.

Not without added taxes because of the border that will be built between the north and south.

Will they use "color touch" or "colour touch" on the labels?

The labels are freshly printed and wouldn't require either...

It'd be a nice detail to add to the label on a pence-priced copy, such as one with a T&P stamp or a Marvel All-Colour Comic.

Would totally agree with you about opening up an office in London, but not so sure about some of their other locations mentioned, as follows:

CCG is headquartered in a 60,000-square-foot facility in Sarasota, Florida, USA. In addition to its London office, it has offices in Munich, Shanghai and Hong Kong, as well as 14 Official Submission Centers in cities around the world

Can someone explain that last part about the 14 OSCs?

Seriously, do they really have that many collectors in Shanghai and Hong Kong dropping books off to be graded?  hm

Or were these 2 offices opened up just to keep Tim happy?  lol

And does anybody know the cities for these so-called 14 OSC's throughout the world?  ???

The new office will make it easier for many more collectors and dealers to submit to NGC, NCS, PMG, CGC and CCS. The CCG and Spink spaces will be completely independent.

The Certified Collectibles Group (CCG) is excited to announce that it will open an office in London in April.

Since it's now almost the end of April, does anybody here have any idea if this CGC office is now opened in London or has it been pushed off til a later date?  hm

It's CCG (the parent company that includes the coin/money grading) that has all of those offices, not CGC specifically. Far as I know, CGC only has the Sarasota office and now London.

Does this mean that European collectors travelling through London can now drop off their books right in their London office for subsequent grading that will take place in their Sarasota office?  hm

If so, does this mean free postage, similar to dropping off books at a comic con which then get shipped back to their facility in Florida? :wishluck:

No clue. You know who would know the answer to those questions? CGC - 1.877.NMCOMIC
