Last night Secrets of the Museum (the museum in question is, The Victoria and Albert Museum) on BBC2 in the UK had the museums conservation experts checking out the full size model of Frankenstein from "The Bride" after a request of it's loan for a SF exhibition. The actual suit is the one worn by Karloff. After x-raying the model a hairline crack was discovered along with the flimsy way in which it had been constructed, despite looking a lot more solid, it was literally held together by just a few rusty nails. It does look very good though. Pre-war Hollywood props are rare so this was a treat. Here's some screen shots of the model, apologies for the quality.

The hairline crack can be seen in the above x-ray. It was concluded that the model would not be able to be displayed unsupported.

Final picture of the monster stripped.

I nearly got to touch this model back in the early nineties when it was on display in the museum of moving image, it was placed in a metal cage with perspex on three sides preventing anyone from touching the figure. I did get close but a few security guards escorted me off the premises, I would have got away with it too if not for those pesky kids.:acclaim: Gnasher my man thank you so much for making me aware of this programme it made my decade, actually I'm trying to get my nephew to just get these parts on DVD. You've done a great service to monsterdom and should get some sort of award, thanks again my friend.:golfclap:

Did they say if the prop was used in the movie and in what scene?

Besides voicing the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back,

Chris the actor who actually appeared wearing what looked like two egg carton over his eyes, did not do any justice to Clives voice acting,  then Lucas decided to redux the entire scene adding the now iconic Emperor.(thumbsu Nice photo, I always liked his acting and thought that he was not given more parts that he deserved. I agree on Legend of Hell house it's one of my favorites.
