Is "Stag" a slang term? I cannot pinpoint the meaning exactly…

Stag is a slang term for say,a mens gathering?Like 'stag party' is sort of like bachelor party..or 'stag films' is an older way of describing pornographic videos.(I guess fellows would gather around the projector in someones basement?)

Thanks. Being the magazine from 1942, seems more generally related to the first meaning.
I find it fascinating that in 1942 in the US one could think to put out a "leisure" men’s magazine… not the same climate in Italy, at the time.

An adjective connoting for a man or men only, and as Porcupine points out, often suggesting a sexual nature to the event. It can also mean attending a function without a date for a man, as in "going stag". A stag being a male deer, with no claim to monogamy.

(thumbsu What I guessed, more or less.
And yes, the kind of magazine you would not see in Italy at that time. And you’d be surprised to see how *different* were the kind of magazines you could find, say, in Italy and in Germany in the 1920s.
Before nazism there was a sort of "avant-garde" with nude photography and the search for a "lost eden", something related to the concept of "bunds", which were cultural leagues. Interwar Germany is incredibly fascinating.

I just got done watching the Babylon Berlin series. It plays a little loose with history, but creates a 1929 Berlin that is at least as engrossing as the actual plot (which has its share of contrivances).
