When buying a car, who gets the Carfax?

Carfax is an industry standard, people wanting grader's notes on every book is not standard.

Nope

I'm confused.  Why should a seller foot the bill to educate a pool of buyers?

It also wouldn't surprise me if CGC discouraged the auction houses from posting the notes.  If Heritage buys the notes, CGC gets paid once.  If 200 potential buyers pay for the notes...

They wouldn't, but dealers buy the carfax reports to post.  It's a selling point.

Now I'm with you.  I always thought the buyer would have to get that.

It seems like it would be a rare occurrence when grader's notes would be a selling point.

I tried to get the Slabfax on a book. I couldn't. Who can I complain to in a completely ineffectual manner?

Me, me, let it be me!

CGC would probably be upset if their auction house friends did this and cost them money in doing so...

They're actually owned by the same parent company, so they're more than just friends.

I was thinking more the scene in 'Chinatown'.

Nicholson: "I want the truth!"

Dunaway: "She's my sister".  SLAP

Dunaway: "She's my daughter".  SLAP

Dunaway: "She's my sister.  My daughter."

If I saw that movie, it was 30 + years ago.  Certainly don't remember it. :sorry:
