HuhO.o?  Me no understand sentence.

Are these guys defending Max or not defending Max?

They are defending max. They are worried someone is trying to get him out of the picture in order to get to stans money I guess. Neal Adams said the following:

Can somebody tell me what’s going on with Stan Lee?

Max Anderson has taken care of Stan Lee like a mother all through his senior years. Some people don’t like Max because Max protects Stan just like a mother, but that’s his job. Some people don’t like that Stan treats Max well financially and so Max has money. Well, dammit folks, Max is supposed to have money. That’s Stan Lee’s decision.

Somebody is keeping Max from Stan and I know Stan must be the worse for it and so I’m worried very much for Stan Lee. I wasn’t worried when Max took care of him. So what the hell is going on?

Neal is an extremely intelligent and articulate individual, but I wonder if Neal was aware of or privy to the police's incident report. (shrug)

Sad to say, but realistically, with a $50 million prize to be won in the Stan Lee sweepstakes, a 95 year old, most recently not hale and hearty, is going to have more than his share of jockeys climbing on his back and trying to ride him like Seattle Slew right across the boneyard finish line.

I look at it this way. Whatever Max did or didn't do for Stan, we really don't know, but, he was well paid for it, maybe even reaping a 1.4 million dollar "bonus". He's not family. The grand prize should go to his biological daughter when it's time, first and foremost. She has 16 more years of history with her dad than Max "Anderson" (Anderson????? That's his real last name?) has been breathing air.

Have heard many, many accounts of Max being a con man.  Had one experience with Max and he's a complete person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed bag.

Yeah he came up to me and said Stan Lee wants to buy that poster you own. I said no and walked away. Yet I got an email from another few times asking the same thing. Said no each time and he stopped. What the heck does Stan need with a cast signed 3 sheet Original Theatrical Poster from the first Star Wars film. A few facilitators said that this is a common method  Max uses to trick peoole into thinking your item you cherish is now going to be cherished by your idol.

On a side note Stan announced his retirement awhile back seems to me Max was forcing Stan to do these last signings in terrible conditions. Why is a man as old as Stan signing that man items now? Stan should be signing only 100 to 200 items at most a show in his current condition.

Obviously two sides to the story, but I'm not buying the "Max was like a son to them" conjecture.  What son drags a 90+ year old man all over the country and runs him ragged at conventions throughout the year?  I briefly saw them in action at C2E2 last year.  Stan sat through a triple digit line of photo op seekers, which they ran through in assembly fashion in under half an hour, and then it was straight to the autograph table, where he could barely even lift his head.  I felt awful for him.  Add on top of that the militaristic guidelines in place that amount to "no talking to, no shaking hands with, no photos of, no looking at Stan in his presence", and you find that the whole idea of meeting Stan Lee at a show is total BS.

He's Stan Lee, he can obviously still make money off of his name from anywhere.  Set up a year round mail-in signature service that he can fulfill from the comforts of home.  Do a few appearances near home each year, maybe make a jaunt to NYCC if he's up to it.  ACT LIKE YOU CARE.

It's already out there that Max has done time in the joint and is a two time convicted domestic abuser, and that's just what we know of.  Ease of access to criminal records varies from state to state, even county to county.  What else have we not seen through the years?  It would obviously be in his best interest to put up a front around creators like Neal Adams and J. Scott Campbell, but around us peons Max could be a bully (probably his true persona), because we had to go through him if we wanted to see Stan.

An unfortunate final thought - With Stan reportedly back at home instead of a hospital, I wonder if he has been put in hospice due to this latest illness.  He's 95 and just lost his wife, could any of us blame him if that's the choice he made?

Right, I feel like these guys are jumping on and don't know the whole story.

It’s a story as old as man himself. You get old and die. For some period of time before you die you need help, typically provided by a family member. Lacking more information I’ll side with the family member every time (as will the courts).   Maybe Bleeding Cool had more info than was in the story but until they share it with the rest of us i’m With you Yanni.

You summed it up very well.  I wonder who does Stans books?  Does he have an Accountant, or does he leave that to Max?  Perhaps Max scares him into thinking he needs more money (even though he probably is set for life)..... (ha!)

Come to think of it, I do remember some guy saying he's Stan Lee's handler, offering me a deal on Stan Lee autographs in exchange for some of my CGC graded books.... hm   I think I said that I'll think about it.  Never heard back from him.

I'll chime in because I've met the man I now recognize as Max, along with Stan's handler and his handler's son.  My experience is unique and may be the exception but it left me with one of those rare impressions that makes me realize it isn't always about the money and that Stan Lee and his staff are really True Believers in his fans.

I relayed this story on here before but at last year's awesome con I tried to get a photo op with my son and Stan Lee but they were sold out for the day and it was the last day of the convention but the only day I could bring my 6 year old son with me.  I asked if there was any way to get in to meet Stan.  I offered to pay double, then triple the photo op and autograph rate and asked them to name a price just so I didn't have to see the look of disappointment on my son's face.  The young man told me he'd love to take my money but that they "Stan Lee's staff" are under strict orders from his handler and manager to limit the tickets sold to what they feel he can handle during each session and that they have to do that to protect Stan even from himself as he would keep meeting fans past the point of exhaustion.  Instead he said he would have to check with his dad "Stan's handler/bodyguard" to see if they could accommodate me since it was just to let my son meet Stan (of course I wanted to meet Stan, too!)  Stan's handler/body guard "a rather tall, large and imposing but friendly Puerto Rican guy" gave the nod to go ahead and I was told to standby until the last person of the autograph line was let in.  Long story short, my son and I were let in, I was introduced to Stan's Handler (I'm ashamed for not remembering his name) and my son escorted towards Stan as a special fan and allowed to meet and converse with Stan and get a couple of autographs.  Afterwards, and not in front of Stan Lee, I again offered to pay both his handler and his handler's son for the courtesy but both refused on account that it was for a young fan of Stan and that was Stan Lee's way.  I thanked them and will never forget their generosity and adherence to Stan's fan values.

I met Max while I was meeting Stan Lee.  I was holding a CGC 6.5 universal AF 15 in my hand originally intending on getting it into the picture.  Max was friendly and making conversation and his eyes got really big when he saw what I had.  He asked if he could see it and I handed it to him.  He was all giddy like a kid in a candy store.  When he saw the grade he blurted out how much it was worth and asked if I was selling it and started throwing out offers.  I told him no and he joked around and started to fake like he was going to walk away with it.  He admired it some more before handing it back.  At the time I thought it was a little unprofessional for someone from Stan's staff to act which was in stark contrast to everyone else's demeanor but figured he was probably just one of the staff's friends.  Now seeing as he was Stan's manager, I can see it being both appropriate and somewhat inappropriate behavior but whatever.

The point of all this is when I read the daily mail article it referenced Max as both Stan's Manager and bodyguard but the photo of Max in the article is not of the same guy I was introduced to as Stan's handler/bodyguard.  Max and Stan's Handler/bodyguard are not the same person. The photo is of they guy who asked about my AF 15.  I'm now wondering if Max is no longer with Stan whether Stan's handler/bodyguard is still by his side as he seemed like good people looking out for Stan and his fans not someone who would try to get between Stan and his daughter or even between Stan and Max unless perhaps he found out something about Max.  There's no mention of him in either the Bleeding cool or daily mail articles.

Had a dealer friend of mine get in on a private signing with Stan.   During the show the signing was at, my pal sent over two of his guys with all the books and cash, price had previously been agreed upon.  Suddenly, Max was asking for additional money per book and wanted it in cash. hm  From my experiences and those of others I implicitly trust, Max is one I would never trust and some of his associations confirm this for me.

Apparently, it's a lot more than this guy Max that's having a field day with Stan's money:
