Friends,

  I am happy to share that on February 7th I received a new heart!  It had been over 500 days on the list and I was actually only a few days away from receiving an LVAD (Left Ventricle Assist Device).  It is a sobering moment to receive a second chance at life at the expense of another’s.  I don’t know anything about my donor, but I am thankful for their gift and can only hope their family feels my love for them.  I am home now, recovering and resting.  There is a long journey back to normal life ahead of me, but my family and I are excited we have this opportunity.

 

  I want to share how thankful I am to be a part of this community.  The outpouring of love and support was overwhelming.  The members (and their families) are truly loving, generous and thoughtful people.  All of your support has been extraordinarily meaningful and helped us through tough times.  The notes and messages have brought a smile to my face multiple times and given me strength to take a positive view.  Lastly, but not leastly, the funds raised are crucial in providing the life-long care I need.  In these uncertain times of the future of healthcare, these funds secure my ability to continue moving forward.  

 

  I probably will not be on here much in the near future, but my plan is to return after I have fully healed and become an active member of the community again.  I look forward to talking comics and participating with all of you soon.  I can only hope to pay all of your kindness forward.

 

  Side note: if you haven’t already, please consider becoming an organ donor.  Your gift could save up to 8 lives and help numerous more.

Not to mention the talented doctors, nurses, and hospital support staff that pulled it all off.  This is great news!

Robb, I'm so happy for you! I was very confident that you would receive a new heart. It is an awesome thing that another person whose life just ended was able to save your life and give you a second chance. It imposes a responsibility to be a good steward of your new heart to honor the generosity of the donor and his loved ones. 

God bless you and you can look forward to a promising new future.
