Good lord, I've just realised that I remember The Seekers' 1965 version. What an old crusty I am.

Hmm, no sighting on the boards of Marwood since 'The Carnival is over" - was that a subtle exit? Hope not...

I must confess that I had the same suspicions. I too hope that there is nothing serious going on. Steve has done some quite magnificent work and it would be a shame were he not to publish it somewhere in some form.

Don't listen to The Count. He's just Marwood with an extra o.

The Carnival (of Monsters) is over when I say it is.

Anyway, I should've stuck with the three Patrick's but got pulled back in by an AUS expert's emergence! Always the way isn't it.

I downloaded the 49th Overstreet this morning. Here I am on page 178 courtesy of Jon McClure's market report:

os.thumb.PNG.7dcb97afc3c1051df93849a9e400e18e.PNG

My 'stuff' (pence variants, font variants, L Miller variants and 1999/2000 newsstand variants) gets a mention throughout. Nice to see it in print like this in a book that has been there all my collecting life.

The numbers in the article are out of date now of course - that's the nature of the beast - but maybe they will catch someone's eye, and they'll go a Googlin and find me......just as I leave!

And I said the 'I' word this time, for those paying attention

So, that's that. Good luck all - be good, and be seeing you...

"Three Patricks" ?

"AUS expert" ?

"...just as I leave!" ?

Enigmatic he is!

Anyway apropos this post I've just ordered Overstreet 49 (£20.87 post free from Wordery) and look forward to reading the whole piece.

Well, said tome arrived this lunchtime and I've spent all afternoon reading. Is it me or is the typeface getting smaller? My poor old les yeux are shrivelled and bleeding!

It's also getting a bit too large for easy handling IMO, my poor old thumbs are worn out.

I find it makes a very handy door stop Red. Heavy it is.

Here are two copies of number ten of my current King favourite, Mandrake the Magician - one 10d pence and one 12c cents:

1810792724_MandrakeTheMagician10(November1967)10d.thumb.jpg.172a7de6d6bb83719a8977ffb14582a8.jpg 178071109_Mandrake1012cvisible10dprice.thumb.jpg.92baf29ff92fcebbb97cbd4b7c3daec8.jpg

Zoom in top right, and what do we see?

On the 12c copy, you can see a feint 10d price showing under the CCA badge:

On the pence copy, there's a blur of slightly different colouring where the 12c price would have been:

I've checked multiple copies and it's the same on all of them. A similar thing occurs on other Kings too.

I find that very interesting.

Do you? :)

I picked these postcards up recently and am quite taken with them. I would imagine it would have been quite a nice surprise for one of these to drop on the door mat back in the day :)

There's a Flash one too. No Popeye though. Or Beetle Bailey. Or Blondie.

Still nice though.

Pence copies, error copies, price variants, post cards. No body gives a damn about King Comics.

I don't understand it.
