Do you agree with this GA Flash page appraisal?

Just saw this story. A local man bought a Golden Age Flash panel page in the 1970's for $7(!) at a comics shop. A Local appraiser concluded it was a $3000 to $4000 page. The art is by Carmine Infantino.

Can anyone identify what comic this is from, and do any of you disagree with that appraisal? (The Appraiser is not an OA specialist). To me, it seems a bit high. But I'm not a GA Flash collector.

It's truly sad that you have these know-nothing appraisers, who build up the owners expectations with a high price. Once the owner tries to sell the art, the reality will set in.

It's an OK page, not much Flash. Value would be around $2000-2300.

Maybe a little high, but that seems about right based on some of the prices at Hake's for GA DC art lately.

Where is our resident Infantino Flash art collector? I'd like his take.

I wish I could pinpoint what issue that was from, so we could figure out some comps.

That's what I figured. If that's a WWII era page, with a bit more Flash action, I could see it going for that higher range. But, also in fairness, maybe the appraiser was just giving them insurance value.

Not sure of the FMV but in terms of pure history and coolness... Four stars.

A lot of the art that came out cheap in the 1970s was unpublished though there were very few complete pages most of it was cut up to be destroyed and then saved- I own a couple of tiers from a story. This may be unpublished which is wh yit was only $7 instead of $50 back then!

The details in the article make me think it was unpublished. GA FLASH  was canceled in 49, so there are only two possible issues it could have been from 103 and 104. (The sword of time and The rival flash, respectively).  Anyone have a picture of the page?

The pic is in the article. There's no issue number visible that I can see.

Thanks, on my phone it didn't load the picture.  There were about 8 or so issues finished that never saw the light of day.  DC destroyed them, but several pages were rescued and some of the destroyed ones were reassembled.  Based on the tape stains I see under the first and third panel, I'm guessing it is one of them.  Further, based on the window designs in the story, I'm guessing it's from Flash Comics 112.    If I'm right (20/80 chance) than 3/4,000 is spot on.  Does anyone have a copy of Flash 214?  The story for Flash Comics 112 was used in there as a backup story called "A tale of three tokens!"

It's not in Flash #214 "The tale of three tokens!" but looks like it'd fit right in there.

Not a great page, and pages of that calibre sell for in the $1800-2500. That page would never make anywhere near $4000.

I could check but I doubt it's Flash 104. That was a great story, and that page doesn't look familiar.

No i don't think it's either of the two published issues from 49.  That's why I'm thinking it's one of the unpublished pages, especially because I see tape stains where they would have sliced it.

This is why you don’t ask a generalist appraiser to evaluate Original comic art.
