Well, issues 9 to 15 anyway. There should be 17 pence copies out there from issue 9 to 25. I've found 13 so far.... :headbang:

Here's a challenge for all you "so bad they're good" film fans - find any record of a film titled "Off on a Comet" made around 1960-62 and released by AIP.

IMDB has a single listing of an animated film with that title - but released in 1979.

So, what did the lucky contest winner witness?

A 1962 version of the novel was to have been filmed by American International Pictures but the film was never made. Various 1962 issues of Charlton Comics offered a contest where a winner would visit the set of the film.[11]

Which still begs the question - what did the winner win?

In a larger sense, has any research been undertaken that confirms that ANY winners and prizes were actually awarded over the years that Charlton ran them - ruining so many covers in the process?

I'm thinking swimming pools and treasure chests and studio visits etc

Cursory Google drive-by produces nothing.

Maybe they won a home visit from the Registered Nurse?

Must have been part of Andy's collection from "Toy Story".

Neat way of removing the branding in the next issue too.

DC at least published the list of winners so it's possible to find some of them and confirm.

Afternoon :)

We're up to 375 confirmed Charlton pence variants now my fellow Pence People:

charlie.thumb.PNG.11d2325b99f70913eeebc30b8f8acb05.PNG

I have just over 260 of them now and spent a whole day last week bagging and boarding them. I'd forgotten how much fun bagging and boarding could be - haven't had a marathon B&B session since the Spidey Completist days :cloud9:

Here's the evidence:

20180523_173433.thumb.jpg.4bc22801368ae06a5d45a9cefbc09f1d.jpg

Apart from the sense of uniformity at the end, it's a great way to connect with your books. Here's a few of my recent additions, until I get around to continuing the full post run. Enjoy!

Nice Charlton Book Alert!
