Love diar cover artwork is so good ‼️Above th November issue? But how come there is no issue number or do Pence have no issue number⁉️?

Charlton didn't like to make it easy for you Foggy - no cover numbers unless they said 'first edition' etc. There's more on that in the first few posts of the thread

Slowly they trickle in....

Up to 384 now of a possible 832 (if I've got my sums right)

Still no sign of a copy for these five titles though:

Will they show up one day...?

Cheers Gnash. I'm the high bidder and hoping to win. It's already a known copy. I'm grateful for the heads up but I scour eBay like a sad person with no life so it's unlikely that I'll miss any. But not impossible! Send me a PM in future - don't want anyone bidding against me (not that they would. No other cretin buys the damn things) :D

One of the fun things that can happen during collecting is finding the notes and comments of former owners in with your newly received books.

Take a look at the notes on this backing board that came with my pence copy of Unusual Tales #33:

5aace72feb9d6_UT33Board.thumb.jpg.853d65534aec1a57264d85268fff8bb3.jpg

Isn’t it great to see how much thought went into the appraisal of this book by its former owner? It’s not in that great a shape, but the love that comes through is heart-warming. Whoever he or she was, they clearly loved their books and they had a great approach to documenting them.

As they say, “Great comic!”

I salute them, whoever they were and will be keeping this board with the comic in its new mylar sleeve

Brilliant. :cloud9:

Afternoon 1207963777_imageproxy(3).gif.991bd1b4db0c29c82fa4a35dcdc3b908.gif

Hold the thought, if you will, that I already own a copy of L'il Genius #34. It looks like this:

 814673578_LilGenius34(Vol.1)August1961(6d).thumb.jpg.da81cdc02ec4c293f611481facb8aebc.jpg

Nice.

Space Adventures #41 arrived today :)

It was advertised as 'NM' but was, of course, not, and somehow survived some really quite inappropriate packaging to arrive looking thus:

1920779188_SpaceAdventures41(Vol.3)August1961(6d).thumb.jpg.ec78cd3fe668726c9e80f8299077632d.jpg

Being a sucker reasonable sort I decided not to query the grade and packaging. Most of my Charltons are Harry Lime grade anyway. But the seller, you see, softened the blow with a free comic! :)

He also included, alas, a free dead spider :p

deadspidey.thumb.jpg.bb1f52c9b480bee4dd76f637d1180668.jpg

Now, you're way ahead of me, I'm sure, and have already concluded that the free comic was L'iL Genius #34. Correct! :golfclap:

Oh, by the way, at the London Fair on Sunday, I was missing a page of my notes and bought a Charlton book that I wasn't 100% sure I owned. Guess what one it was......

Spoiler

"Three! Three copies of ze Little Genius Boy numbers 34, ahh, ha, ha, ha, ha!countvoncount.gif.5cb2763a663d59ea98ddfe9a38196151.gif
