Starting to question CCS's pressing skills.

I have had CCS press stuff once, I did not want to take the chance, and when I got the book back stuff that I was positive would have came out did not.  The book was cleaned and look a lot better, but the press was almost absent.

ugh NEVER AGAIN.  I sent in a SS GL 76 that was definitely an upgrade with a press.  After they pressed the book it sustained damage that wasn’t there prior.  There is a HUGE color rub/burn at the bottom staple. This is amateur hour.

So I basically paid them to ruin my book.  🤬😡

Here’s another book...

it seems like their machine is scorching/searing off the inks.  I wish I had never sent in my books.  This is really bad.  Needless to say, I’m fuming right now. 🤬😡🤬  I’m going to contact them for an explanation.  But  not holding my breath.

These last two books both look like abrasion damage, to be honest. Basically what I'd expect if the book shifted slightly while under pressure (or the machine shifted slightly against the book). That certainly doesn't excuse the damage, but I suspect that's what caused it. These don't really look like overheat/scorch injuries.

There are a few reasons for color rub like this, but a book shifting while in the press is not one of them.

I can't believe they went ahead and slabbed that book, as if you wouldn't notice?

I've had CCS reject books, for fear of popping staples, weakening spines, so they're not a factory that just smashes everything...but...yikes.

:o

1)  Too much pressure

2) Too much heat

3) and/or Left in the press too long

One or a combination of them can cause what I've seen in those pictures provided.

If I had to guess, it happened before the book was ever placed in the press.

the last time i used ccs, i sent them 15 books - they tore the covers off 3 of em.  called me about 1, but went ahead and just had the other two slabbed without telling me.  i say yes, its a smash factory. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting.... I had not thought about the pre-work done prior to pressing.  But that is certainly friction, pressure related in my opinion.

Maybe they need to replace the release paper.

I can only imagine the business model is very assembly line and not conducive to care as some of the pros but alas... you get what you pay for.

Either way.... bunch of Savages!
