Had kids over for visit and dinner earlier.  They're gone now.  Wife is asleep. I just cracked a Voodoo Ranger IMP Ale,

put on some Brock Human "Found"  began looking through the pages of this old paper.

I bought it a month ago at least but haven't had the time to really check it out.

While I'm doing the page by page I thought I'd share them.

Maybe not every single square inch of every page, but a lot of it

Remember the old Friday night threads ?  :luhv:

Better than this snore fest is going to be

This is what meets the reader's eye every single issue upon opening the front page.  Starts with TBG info.

I was pretty much isolated from a wider community until I started reading the UK’s Fantasy Advertiser and BEM fanzines in the very late 70s, but I don’t know if they were published as early on as your paper there.

I subscribed to this back in college (early 80s), right before it went from the newspaper size to the smaller size.  I think Don and Maggie Thompson took over as editors soon after.  I miss it.  I wish I had kept my copies but many years ago I threw them away for space reasons (although I kept the 4 or so issues where my letters were published)

I used to love those stupid things :cloud9: I think my first copy was complimentary in the early 70's..... I had a sub off and on..... it was THE source for books..... although Crestohl and Rogofsky got their share of my paper route money too. My first JIM 83 came from CBG..... about a good for $ 25 ..... GOD BLESS...

Thanks for the memories, Mac.  It was a treat to get TBG in the mail starting in '73, triggering hours spent scouring the ads.  I did a fair amount of buying back issue Silver Age Marvels and started building my collection of undergrounds (I may very well have bought a few from Sidebottom), all for the purposes of reading with their monetary value and condition never given a whiff of consideration.  Just for the fun and entertainment of it all.

lol !!  It's true !!  In those days, condition hardly mattered.  It was more about securing the issue number.  As long as the book wasn't totally wrecked, I was quite happy with it.

I hated subscription creases though
