The book is actually complete as manufactured. Many WWII-era comics were produced with only one staple to conserve for the war effort.

So it's one of those; the question is where to cap the grade for a detached cover wrap.

I feel like I remember some boardie folk wisdom that CGC goes a touch easier on single-staple books that have become detached... because there is technically less damage than books where two staple areas have detached?... but I confess I don't really know.

Opinions welcome! Thanks guys.

4.5.  Just a guess, but seems too nice to be capped at 4.0!

I'm at 4.5, the edges are very nice, spine looks good, very little creasing.

This is a tough one.  Detached cover is usually a 2.5 at best, but it looks nice, so...

Obviously this presents much nicer than its technical grade.  I would lean towards a 4.0 with the detachment. 

But maybe it would be a Qualified 6.0

I think I would rather have a lower graded Blue label. From reading the old thread above it would seem this book would be capped at 4.0, so I am going with 4.0 Blue.

Very nice Jon. I have some Timelys that look much nicer that CGC still gave 3.0 when I graded them much tighter as raw books. That said, if the cover on your Pep was not detached, I'd go 5.0. As is, I'll take off a point so 4.0.

Fair question. I don’t think he did but I could tell the staple area was wonky. A no-brainer for me anyway; I love the freshness. Well pleased with it.
