Tales To Astonish 44 possible trim?

Hello, I'm not the best at detecting stuff and it's a pretty low grade book I recently purchased so I'm ok with it looking rough. However, it was advertised as no restoration or anything and I'd like to be sure it is not trimmed.

The top side of the book makes a triangle when I close it and look down the pages, but the bottom is solidly flat all the way across when I do the same thing. It may have to do with the terrible staple job, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'm sure it's nothing, but I'm all about the peace of mind haha.

Also a little miffed about the bottom staple rust that wasn't mentioned. Should I be concerned that the staples are so different in quality?

I appreciate your knowledge and if I need more specific pictures, please let me know!

This is definitely not trimmed. If it had been, you couldn't have gone too wrong purchasing it. In this condition, although there may be a difference in desirability if trimmed, the technical value doesn't change much between unrestored, restored, or trimmed. Those three market values would be in close proximity to each other in this condition.

Awesome, I appreciate your reply. I mainly just like to be sure I get what I pay for, more than the resale value, but appreciate your input on the subject. Should I be concerned with the rusted staple? I live in a fairly humid environment, though I keep the books stored in an air conditioned room.

Not enough rust on those staples to cause any concern, in fact, the oxidation process has just begun, the bottom staple in the "beginning to tarnish" stage. Just keep the book(s) out of the basement if it's damp down there. Air-conditioning isn't imperative, just don't expose to heat or cold extremes, keep them out of the basement or attic, and away from heating ducts, radiators, sunlight, strong house lights, etc.  A cool, dry, safe place in a desk, a pantry, a closet, a file cabinet will do fine. Archival material storage preferred, Non-PVC clear bag, buffered board, mylar, etc., etc.
