Some times the prize is just getting the recognition for the accomplishment.

Ps I seriously do not get professional artists that take 3 years to do a commission.  I finish in one day.  Even when I was drawing and inking 7 pages a week while working full time I did all commissions in one day.  WTF

Especially considering how simple most commissions are.  "I want captain america but the punisher logo on his shield"
"Ok it will be 15 minutes.  Not 3 years or NEVER and ps thx for the money!"
