No love for Atlas/Seaboard?

Preparing for my first sales thread and as I was putting lots together last night I came across my Atlas/Seaboard books, which I hadn't thought about in a long time.  I love these books (and have most of the #1's in 9.4-9.8) but I never hear anyone talking about them. The story of the company and its founding is almost as cool as the books themselves.  They don't seem to garner any interest though.  The only sales threads that I found here on the boards are filled with the sounds of crickets, receiving either 0 responses or the OP bumping the thread, metaphorically asking "Bueller? Bueller?"

So I guess I'm going to keep them for myself as they're not salable, either due to the big warehouse find (see board discussion here) or simple apathy.  It makes me sad, because these books are awesome, created by some of the Bronze greats and easy to collect due to the fact that few of the titles ran more than 3-4 issues before the company folded.  For those interested, there's an amazing history and review of every issue here.

And, for your viewing pleasure, featured below are pics of every #1 they published (pulled from the net, not my collection) in their short blaze of glory.  My favorites were Chaykin's Scorpion and the Goodwin/Ditko/Wood Destructor.  What were yours?  Bueller?  Bueller?

I like this thread.  I spent some time looking at Atlas to see if any of their books got the pence treatment. Didn't find any, but I haven't given up just yet. @iganatz, I salute you. Threads on the more 'obscure' publishers rarely get traffic so don't take it personally. Mention Charlton, King, IW etc and most eyes glaze over. Keep them! Love them! Document them! :headbang:

Love 'em.Still angry about the Barbarians featuring IronJaw though.Said it was to be continued, and it never was!Searched for ages preinternet...and found out it just never made it to issue two.Grr.

I have all the books posted above. The Vicky I have been told is fairly tough to find, and there is some more love showed to that than the others.

Steve, your search for pence of this got me wondering if they were ever reprinted by Edition Heritage comics.Off to search my big book on the history of the company..as it's written fully in French,i'll be brushing up and thinking in French for DAYS!

I looked up the book, maybe it is Andrax i'm thinking of,with the story never concluding?Like I said,it was some time ago.I may even have issue two,but I remember being frustrated that the end of the story was never published. If you have any info,it would be greatly appreciated!

Edit...nevermind,you got me.

According to the article linked in my OP, IronJaw was the only A/S character to appear in 5 stories.  Four IronJaw comics and one issue of The Barbarians (which oddly was published between IronJaw 3 and IronJaw 4 but bore no relation to those stories).  It's in this one-off that the Andrax story appears.  You are correct in remembering a cliffhanger, IronJaw 4 ends in the middle of his expanded origin story.

http://www.atlasarchives.com/articles/history.html

"Ironjaw #4 gives us the "origin" of the barbarian, and this tale by Gary Friedrich and Pablo Marcos is a somewhat overdone saga of a young minstrel who is tortured and maimed by some jealous thugs. A witch tries to save him at the cost of her own immortality, and she is the one who first gives the young man his new jaw and his new name. Ironjaw was the flagship of the Atlas line, the only character to appear in five stories, but this issue is the last. We will never know the second part of Ironjaw's origin. The Atlas-Seaboard tragedy begins to unfold."

Namisgr caught me not paying attention lol It was the 'barbaric adventures' that threw me off..just processed it as Barbarians #2.That and the cliffhanger in IJ#4 had me doubting my memory,as i've read them all.

P.S. looking at your avatar, really glad I don't have psychomotor epilepsy and in charge of saving the human race from alien microbes.
