My favorite piece is clearly my Curt Swan Superman (click to embiggen).

I'm not sure that I have a grail beyond this, but I think the pages that I would want the most are probably:

The splash to the first comic I ever read. My brother and I poured over this trying figure out who everyone was and what they did. I do have a page from that comic. You can see it here. Yes, I'd like this more than the cover.

There are four others that I would be especially happy to own. :) The original to the 2nd Legion Index is in David Mandel's CAF. Sigh... :)

I might be a Legion of Super-Heroes fan as well as a Curt Swan fan. :)

I've never been shy about posting in this forum about what I'm looking for; so at the risk of trying the patience of fellow readers, I'll play too:

Personal favorite in my collection:
Gonna fudge a little.  I don't really have a #1 favorite piece, my favorite would be the complete issue of MICRONAUTS #11 altogether.  I'll post these two together to represent the issue:

...and my 'Grail' is a tie.
So, I'm fudging again.  Two Baron Karza splashes by Pat Broderick, (Micronauts 26 pg 15 :: Micronauts 25 pg 31); I have been beating the bushes for them for years, confident I'll run them down eventually:

For me picking one piece of art is also tough. I also fall into picking something that is comprised of many parts, "How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way" this is a book that I vividly remember first  reading at my local library when I was 11. I really effected me, ya the 11 year old thought "WOW I can draw my heroes and become a comic book artist. Then realitu set in and found I didnt have the patience or the skill. But it still helped me appreciate the artists and led me to collect comic art.

For the other part, never really liked the term grail. But two pieces I would love to own would be the splash to Silver Surfer #1 by Buscema and Sinnot or unpublished cover to Conan #100 by John Buscema and Ernie Chan. Love the published over but the unpublished I like better shows great anguish on Conan for Bélit.

Tough call as I own a number of originals that would qualify as favourites in my collection.  An example favourite that I own would be George Wilson's cover painting to LOST IN SPACE # 25, while a personal grail that I'd love to own would be Ditko's cover art to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 18 (the image I'm posting here is a recreation I had Bruce McCorkindale do for me several years ago - and makes for a good approximation of what I'd expect Ditko's original to look like . . . should it still exist).

Advice given to me when I came into this hobby: "If you find your favorite image of your favorite character drawn by your favorite artist, buy it!"  So, my owned grail is probably Wolverine Limited #3 p31, a "TRIFECTA" piece— my favorite image of Wolverine by Frank Miller.

My holy grail has be the incredible Byrne X-Men #137 Title DPS, still takes my breath away:

I'm in the works of getting what I consider to be a grail piece for me. I don't want to say what it is though and risk jinxing it. Why are collectors so superstitious when it comes to this type of stuff anyway?

My Holy Grail without question, is certainly the original Shadow Pulp oil painting of “The Creeping Death” (Circa. - Jan. 15, 1933), by George Rozen.

21” x 30” oil on canvas!

2)  Second of my holy grails is from another Shadow pulp “The Third Skull’ (circa. 1935)

      21” x 30” - oil on canvas!

The Third and Fourth of my grails are a couple of the very few Shadow pulp interior illustrations known to exist:

The first one displays great brushwork used by the great artist:  Edd Cartier (circa. 1937).

11” x 16”

The second was by the famous artist/painter Tom Lovell (circa. 1936, from the Partners of Peril, significant as it was the story that was used/swiped for the Batman story in Detective 27).

12” x 17”
