Very similar, but for Marvel to have been threatened with a lawsuit, I feel Ross's work would have been spot on.  Please keep searching though, I want someone to find it.  Thanks for joining in.

@Get Marwood & I, maybe that's it.  Not a lot of details in his depiction in the few panels he set the armory as a backdrop.  Maybe it was a fond place for him or brought back good memories.

Mebbe. All part of the mystery Reg :cloud9:

Here are the interior Spidey shots from the Partners For Life book, which I'll read again soon. It's been a while since I last did and I tend to forget everything very quickly...

They were so similar and I figured I had to send it to you. The location is Beach 91 street between Beach Channel Drive and Rockaway Freeway in the shadows of the A-Line train trestle. There is a huge abandoned bank on the corner . Surely felt like an Andru Spidey scene to me. I will keep on the lookout

Definitely keep searching, I'm thinking exact match, although it doesn't rule out the possibility that the owner had work done on it.  My worst fear is that it has been demolished.

Wouldn't it be cool to find the original owner and get his take?  Or maybe his kids, if he had any.

But I did piece this one together.  The last panel shows Spidey watching the Kingpin's wife and son drive away.

Great post Reggie! It's great to be reminded of these books isn't it. Look at that word box there:

"In fact, he stands alone for several minutes -- then he shakes his head sadly, and swings off into the dawn"

Can you imagine that style of narration in a comic today? They may well have been less technically accomplished than their modern successors, but my God these old issues stir the feelings. Simple, and wonderful.

Thanks for the kind words @Get Marwood & I.  Every few years I read through a couple of these issues, usually from the bronze age, and it definitely brings me back to my youth.  I agree there was a simple, but effective way the message was conveyed back in the day.

I seem to recall on the letter's page to Issue 164 (or maybe it was a subsequent issue) a thank you for letting Ross visit the Brooklyn Navy Yard for reference.  Can someone please post a pic or scan of that, as none of the reprints I have access to has it?

Ten years ago I had about 5 copies of each! Typical. Fingers crossed someone will have a copy to scan / post  :wishluck:
