How large is the original?

While I do not have the exact dimensions, I guesstimate that it is approximately in line with the sister plates created around the same time...not as large as we would like, and certainly not as large as most of the 'modern' prints...

However, you may extrapolate a better idea of it's size from this invaluable relic...

Incredible piece...talking serious OA porn!  (worship)

Seriously...as much as I love the HOS #92 cover, I think this one would have to be at the top of my Fantasy Wrightson Want List.

I had tried to pry this gem from the current owner a few times many years ago but to no avail.  I have been told it would likely take $1,000,000 to get him to take notice.  I know a collector who was rejected with a $500,000 offer.

Without a doubt it was his chef d'oeuvre.

I seriously doubt there will be text included, and frankly in this case, the text is not why I would get one of these artists editions.  YMMV of course, but I've had the Wrightson Frankenstein book ever since it came out, and have never been particularly compelled to read it, which may very well be my loss.  I view this as an art book only (especially since I already know the Frankenstein story), and my only concern is that enough of the actual plates are represented to make it seem mostly whole.

You should read the book.  I had read about 50 or so pages many years ago and put it down only to pick it back up last year and finish it.  I'm glad that I did.  Totally different from the 1931 movie for example.  Too, keep in mind that it was written exactly 200 years ago.
