Yes Steve, that would help

That's a nice copy of Lawman (thumbsu Why didn't you buy it?

I'm not actually collecting the Dells Bob. I pick up the odd cheap copy for this thread but don't intend to build the set, just catalogue what exists. If I could go back 20 years, I would try to collect all 5K or so pence books for all publishers. That would be a thing. But it's too late now, and would be too expensive. And I don't have the space really any more!

So I only collect Archie, Charlton, King and some Gold Keys. And the odd Marvel.

I really enjoy the Charltons and Archie's. I wish I had collected them instead of the 8,000 Spidey books at I had at the peak of my completist days. But Hell, I enjoyed that too. As long as I have comics in my life to some degree, I'm happy.

Here's the Dell confirmed list so far (although I have a few more in the pending folder to add):

Gotcha, something we all suffer from to a degree, lost time and lack of pennies. (thumbsu

Thanks for the update!

Yours in anticipation for the Four Color/Giants

Bob

Yes, I need more pennies to buy more pennies Bob :)

208 is the current 'I've tidied up me files' Dell figure:

dell1.PNG.b5ec9e93126c47187d5ac08d71f84bda.PNG

40 titles, and a potential 424 books. Will likely end up lower though, once the 'gaps' cement themselves. On that subject, here's a good blog which talks about missing cent Four Color books:

http://dellcomicfan.blogspot.com/2011/12/where-are-missing-dell-four-color.html

I can see an obvious Dell pence gap for Tom & Jerry, just like the Gold Key scenario I posted earlier today. So maybe the 'avoiding clashing with existing UK reprint titles' will be a thing here with Dell too.

Here's the full updated list:

Will do, but I think it's looking pretty good. I think I missed The Deputy that I posted because I didn't look in the Four Colour list. :tonofbricks:

I lost track of the pence threads while I was off for a while and only just now catching up, so hopefully if I spot anything won't post anything unnecessary. Although it didn't hurt to see the covers.

Keep up the Stirling work on all the pence threads, and thanks! (thumbsu

They're nice Maurice. They're Thorpe & Porter reprints of Dell originals, so 'out of scope' for this thread. Still nice to see :)

We're up to 209 confirmed pence copies now - I spotted this Looney Tunes #222 on eBay in the week:

391454766_LooneyTunes222.thumb.jpg.59bb9e2732d134d640539ab2501e4600.jpg

We only need LT #223 for a full 9d block now:

ly222.thumb.PNG.7c537af2959b269d6f08e8e62a0b7b8e.PNG

There's a UK seller who has a helpful habit of placing stickers across the area where a 9d may be:

223.jpg.1293d9c33bca25b95e6458d81f4f6727.jpg

Too pricey to buy on the off chance. I'll try a message.

In terms of what may not exist, the spreadsheet screenshot above remains quite telling - no books for the visible titles beyond October 1960 so far. Other hidden titles do have copies from that date of course, so we can never say never, but it is starting to look fairly convincing isn't it.

Time will tell...
