You mean this....Sandman #1 Purple Variant?  ASM143 didn't get recognized as the variant by CGC?

Wow never saw that site real cool. Yeah CGC should consider recognizing ASM 143 on it's label, it's just like the Sandmans color variations (thumbsu

It's interesting. Sandman #1 was printed in 1974 ahead of ASM #143 by one year. Both have similar problem in color printing except the low distribution for Sandman #1 --- ASM never had a single low distribution.

Census showed 730 graded regular Sandman #1 and 56 graded Sandman #1 purple variant then mere 279 graded ASM #143 (out of averaged 273,773 prints per month in 1975).

Nice, so how many purple graded copies of ASM 143 can there be? 10% of the 279 graded copies of would make that possibly under 30 copies, spread across all the different grades.

Yeah, well they gave it to FF 110 with a Green Printing Error listed on the pop report, but there's so many of those, who knows? (thumbsu

There are 82 graded copies with Green Printing Error vs 134 graded regular FF #110 copies.

Also Avengers #10 has the printing error too. 66 copies were given the qualified label.

I think CGC will correct this inconsistency in time.

They should, those green qualified labels lower the value. I can even remember when moden's were red labels. lol and now there blue!

There are different shades of blue and purple cover inks from ASM143. The most common is the blue version. The purples are more rarer.

Correct. All jokes aside I think the 2nd time they printed they mixed inks incorrectly and about 30% of the run of 530,000 is plum colored. Does that mean there is a 1st and 2nd printing? I think there were actually 3 printings each month and this was the 2nd but i don't believe there is a way to tell. But if this info is correct this is the one of the times that you can actually tell which was a "2nd print" as it was purple. I'm also pretty sure that the print was not interrupted to correct the color. Yes, all this talk of a "variant" is tongue in cheek - sort of like all those ".02 Cent Variant" copies of Nick Fury Agent of Shield #2 or Captain America #104. I'm pretty sure Dan was just having some fun. But at the same time if accurate data is available you *could* denote a variant or at least scarcity. Do I think it should affect pricing or demand? No. And the FF #110 was more of a true fail. This was - I think - more of a % issue. Sort of like putting too much cayenne pepper in your blackening seasoning.

The real news here are the 2 beauties above it. My what smoking copies they are.
