There's nintendo ads all over DC and Marvel from that time frame too though.   Definitely a possibility but given the nature of the game (physical, sports) I'd bet it was run in a marvel or dc that was aimed at older kids than the Valiants were.

I haven't been able to determine what comic book or books it may have been in yet as usually these would appear in a number of places, but I did find it on the back cover of the January 1992 issue of Electronic Games Monthly (EGM)
