Remember that video by Ah Ha in the 1980’s, Take On Me? What do you think the original art from that video would sell for if it came up for auction?

If they were actually drawn there would be A LOT of pieces of original art, right?

Not sure if I got my facts straight- but I think the animation was done in Toronto back in the day - so if anyone there knows the company -maybe there is a way to get that art.

Also - if you haven't seen the Family Guy take on this Here it is.

Bumping this topic, because I found out who created the artwork for the Ah Ha video.

https://www.pattersonreckinger.com/take-on-me

The art was also  on exhibit a few years ago in LA.

And, I found that one piece of artwork from the video was sold. I don't know for how much, however.

But, I have found what I think is the dealer who bought the art, and they are selling it for $650.

I have 1000 A Ha cassettes in their original seal that weren’t sold. I got them when we bought a Tower Records Inventory. Can I trade those for a page?

who am I kidding...?....I was 18 when that song-video came out. Not gonna lie I still try (fail) to hit that high note..

Whomever priced that IMO should have gone much higher.    The person who doesn’t give a poop won’t give a poop at 500 and the person who does care will care at 5k+.     Should have priced much much higher but now a low bar has been set.

Personally, I'd speculate it would go on the higher side of $150,000 potentially.  It depends if it's the entire storyboards to the whole music video as shown and how many pieces that is.   It needs to be a complete set 'tho to command a high price-tag.

It's less "artwork" than it is "memorabilia" and you see how much people pay for nostalgic memories.

Although A-Ha is basically a "one hit wonder" (yeah, they've other charting songs (as well as a "greatest hits album", but poll the majority and most will say they did not have a sustainable mainstream career and won't be enshrined in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame anytime soon if ever), they're iconic to the 80's and although most fans of the 80's are now in their 50's or 60's getting near retirement and fans who may have any nostalgia over it will probably be dead in 30-40 years, so there may be less people who recognize or care about it, it has relevant interest now and many of  those folks have disposable income.
