Boots and Her Buddies #5 (CGC 8.5 with off-white to white pages) Central Valley Pedigree $895: $795

Edgar Martin story and art. Published September 1948. “Abe” Martin was the creator of the “Boots and Her Buddies” comic strip. His strip ran for 30 years from 1921 to 1951 and reached an audience of over 60 million. Only a handful of comic book issues were produced. This is the highest CGC grade for issue #5 with only 3 in census. Next highest is a 7.5. Gorgeous book! Under appreciated and undervalued GGA in my opinion.

Mister Mystery #4 (CGC 5.0 with off-white to white pages) $1335: $1235

Ross Andru cover. Andru, Mike Esposito, Don Perlin and Abe Simon art. Published March 1952.

Mister Mystery is one of the most collected and coveted pre-code horror series. With 19 issues, it may have the most covers for any series ranked in the top 100 horrific pre-code horror covers. A rather graphic bondage cover highlights this attractive pre-code horror gem. The cover comes from “The Painting” story- a disturbing story with great story telling; “IT WAS ALL OVER IN A FEW MINUTES! SHE CEASED TO STRUGGLE AS HER BLOOD PULSED OUT OF HER BODY… AND THEN TOOK ON NEW LIFE AS SHE BECAME PART OF MY CANVAS. MY LATEST MASTERPIECE!” Now take another look at the cover- yikes!

Voodoo #4 (CGC 6.5 with off-white pages) $1825: $1700

Matt Baker art on “Drums of Doom” story. Published November 1952.

Hard to find Voodoo #4. Only 5 copies graded higher. This in-demand Farrell series is quite coveted by pre-code horror fans especially in Fine or better grades. Very few #4s have changed hands in the last 8 years.

Rich colors and a quirky cover make this a must-have addition for your pre-code horror collection.

Phantom Lady #14 (Canadian Edition- CGC 7.0 with off-white pages) $3395:$3250

Even though CGC says Matt Baker cover Overstreet says no. It’s a great cover nonetheless and we have outstanding Matt Baker Art. Published October 1947. A rare Canadian Edition with only 4 in census.

This is a stunning cover. Easily an 8.0 or 8.5. Overall grade is brought down by “crease top left of whole book” and “small tear bottom of spine”. You can see the crease on the top of the back cover. Just a gorgeous book!

Hey, it’s a Phantom Lady!
