Lot 24: UNLOVED #1’s

 

Why do readers connect with this book and not that one?  In some instances, they were never given the chance.  The DC Explosion turned Implosion so quickly.  Dynamic Classics could have been one of the great reprint books.  Neal Adams Batman and Walt Simonson Manhunter? Sign me up.  Alas, the Implosion came the very next month. Strange Sports Stories folded after 6 issues.  I think they blew their load in the first issue, featuring baseball with Satan himself Where do you go from there? Time Warp #1 is an overlooked classic IMO but the series failed after 5 issues.  Starfire, in which a slave finds love, heartbreak, freedom and revenge on a planet with the worst fashion designers in the Universe. Finally, Bloodstone, the 10,000 year old monster hunter.  All six debuts for $40.

Are there any weirder comic runs than this one?  Started as a sort of Bizarro Archie comic, then featured monster humor, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Captain Sprocket.  For exactly 3 issues, it was an outright horror book before turning back to humor.  Up for sale are two of those issues.  How was this unsuccessful, featuring the kind of stuff below?
