Childhood Memories: The Toys of the Silver and Bronze Age

I'm a 70's kid, so there's very few toys that had as big an impact on me before Kenner's Star Wars toy line hit the stores. I'm appraising a mostly 50's and 60's Hanna Barbera themed collection. The collection was put together for well over 40 years. You will very likely see a collection assembled with this level of completeness. The Flintstones and the Jeston's toys in it tug at my nostalgic strings, but many of them you never see come up for sale. There's a Yogi Bear Jellystone Park (Marx) that has the toys still in their original factory paper wrap! Below is the Bedrock Express playset (image I got from Google and not the actual one from the collection), but it's just one of the example of toys from that time period that really knock your socks off, and when you look at a collection themed to a particular animation studio from the period, you really see the best of the best producing licensed toys.

I'd completely forgotten about those. Can't even remember if I actually had one (I think so) or just remember using my friends'.

These were great! I imagine it's hard to find an original set with all the parts. Any SSP racers were fun

I had a Smash-Up Derby set as a kid. Loved it :luhv:

Pretty sure mine was one of the later versions

I think this was considered the deluxe one. The first one (Coleco maybe, or something even more downscale) was really primitive.

wow we had so many battles with the tracer guns.  One night when I was about 12 me and my brother put on hoodies, made white paper masks and got alcohol and cotton balls and our tracer guns-then we set out and terrified neighbor kids by throwing and catching fireballs and shooting them with tracer guns when they got too close.  One of the littler kids was crying at the alien invasion.

another toy I remember is crystal climbers:

The 1970’s were the beginning of the modern video game industry. There were several attempts but before Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or Sega there was the Atari 2600 master system. It’s success and crash leads directly into the events that got us Nintendo in the mid 1980’s.

My brother had one of those, and we played 2 player games on trips to campsites in the backseat of the parents car.
