And who can forget these?

The original run in 1967 were like baseball cards.

Then in 1969 they did a series of wacky ads.

I think most people here remember them when they started up again as peel stickers in 1973 and on with many of the old versions reused and a whole new line of Wacky Packages.

I got Mike Powers AND his atomic outpost? fort? for my tenth birthday. Back them my mom would leave my present at the foot of my bed so I could open it when I first woke. Needless to say, I wasn't awake more than a minute before I had the box torn open (who kept anything mint in package?) and was playing with them, and played right up until the second I had to leave for school. And despite my mom's pleas for me to put my presents away, I left them in the middle of the living room floor so I could start playing with them again as soon as I got home. When I did, I discovered my older brother's dog Jethro had ate Mike Powers AND the fort. RIP Atomic Man. :tonofbricks:

seems like many lessons were learned about responsibility at the cost of some precious toys -- this one and the green machine. Did you make sure to put your toys away after this happened?

One christmas we tore open gifts from our aunt and when everything was opened of course all the wrapping went in the fire place.  Later we called our aunt to thank you and she said what about the $10 bills I put in the packages with the gifts....

this was 1966 when $10 was a s*** ton of $$$

I LOVED Wacky Packs as a kid. My mother, not so much - we stuck those stickers everywhere...schoolbooks, lunchboxes, walls, doors, our parakeet's birdcage. I was surprised to realize a few years ago they still make them! I bought a box on eBay and cracked it open with my friend's two sons and they went just as crazy for them as we did when we were kids. Here is a sample of the current wackiness...

while I am happy that they are still made-- I think I prefer the art work on the ones from the seventies.

That 'art' is horrific.  Jr High level if not elementary school.

perhaps art is not the right word. Maybe they look more authentic or are better parodies of the real thing? That one for sewer side squad is pretty sloppy, unless that was intended

I believe the Sewer Side Squad art was intentional, I think its a parody of the art from a current kids tv show (not sure which one - don't watch them). I only picked it for this forum because it was comic book related. For the most part the current batch of Wacky Pack artists try to imitate the original artwork from the seventies (I have two great books from Amazon that detail the origins and art of the original Wacky Packages). Here is a better example of the current sticker style (these are from the 2015 set).
