Is the fare Market value , for the raw comic .. or the graded value 2 2

Is the value of the comic for submission based on its raw form when you get it or after it's been graded. Trying to figure out what tier to join

I usually put the value of what it will be after grading.  Or at least guess what the value will be after it is graded.

It's worth noting that if anything happens to the book (damage or loss) the book will be assumed to be valued at whatever you place on your submission form as well.

Since you don't know what the book will grade, you should consider the value of the raw book. CGC will upcharge you if they feel the need, but they NEVER downcharge. 

So, if you say your book is worth $3,000, but it ends up being much lower grade...say you missed something, like a torn out page....then you won't have paid for a higher tier than the comic is actually worth.

....and there's nothing wrong with that. After all, you DON'T know what the book will grade, even if you have a good guess, so let them upcharge you if they want. 

And they will, and do.

In it's raw form. Otherwise you may end up paying for a higher tier than you should. If you think it's a high value book after grading then request that they ship it back to you registered mail.

The answer is actually both... Maximize the FMV within the tier you choose. Say, for a modern... $200. If anything happens during the return shipping you are in a better position than if you listed the FMV of the raw book.
