Philippe has a great collection, built in a few years only, but is not focused on Tintin. He's working on this project of a museum in Brussels for a few years, I can't wait to see it. If you want to have a peek to his collectionhttps://www.2dgalleries.com/browse/user-artworks?timespan=4&order=10&catid=2&uid=583

Wow. I'm 6 hrs from Brussels but this is all news to me. Great! I look forward to hearing more from the collection/museum in the near future, too.

I love it all, I keep scrollin and the art never ends ;)

I finally got to the end. It took a while. I'm interested when it's live if EVERYTHING is put out (and curated in that manner) or smaller rotating exhibits that show well together.

I like many things in his collection but I couldn't understand his collecting habits.  It looked like he was buying everything from every area.  If he is starting a museum then it makes sense. It looks like it will be terrific.

That's exactly his target, so yes when you know it it makes sense :)

Regarding the Master Race pages, here is what he said on a French board (I won't translate it, it would probably not be accurate, so either you speak French or you'll use an online translation service)

Quote

Oh my word. He has this too?

The Rocketeer, Volume 2, Cliff's New York Adventure by Dave Stevens - Comic Strip

I'm also happy to see an Underzo "Asterix" piece. And, it's interesting that he likes Matteo Scalara "Black Science" covers. There are a few up on e-Bay that I have been eyeing as well. Really excellent.

And, finally, this thing of beauty from LXG. Wow.

How weird. He has the mirror page to my Watchmen page and only lives an hour or so away. Such a small world.

Courtesy of Google Translate, which I hope gets the gist of it: "I did not know anything about Master Race myself, whereas I've been a fan of short comics and short stories since I was a teenager, and I had discovered the exact copies by chance over a year ago. the Paris exhibition "Shoah and comics" at the Holocaust Memorial.
Absolute love for this story and the way it is told! The specifications of this kind of publication implies an effective twist and there I was trapped as a beginner! The specialists and the media will mainly remember the historical interest of the subject of the story told, but it is reductive. If we love comics, this story is magical and the opportunity to acquire it was unexpected in the context of my future activities."

I might be wrong but I thought most of the original Watchmen art was sold in Europe/Britain to the original buyers.  I did see a mail order ad at one time but I thought that's where they originated from.

You are correct, years ago Dave Gibbons told me he sold all the pages (excluding the covers) to a London comic store, if my memory doesn't fail me I believe it was Gosh! Comics.

Parisfred went over and bought a lot of art directly at Gosh to sell in his Paris comic shop "Editions Déesse" , I think the price they were asking was around $25 a page. I got my page from the guy who bought it there in early 1987.

Philippe Boon bought his page on Heritage during the Summer auction of 2015. By now I think most of the Watchmen art is in the US.

It was the now-defunct Comic Showcase in London. Scott Dunbier brought the pages to the US back then.

That was my WM page which I had consigned to HA in 2015. There are a couple other pieces in the collection that I used to own, as well. Very cool to see them again, and to know where they ended up.

Great store (for American comics) - I wasn't expecting to see any OA when I visited a couple of months ago, but swooned a little when I saw this on the wall

BTW, there are several comic shops in a five block radius of this part of Paris (This is near the Notre Dame) ... I had a fun afternoon while the wife was clothes shopping.

Yeah, Comic Showcase on Neal Street.  Paul Hudson was the manager (nice guy).  They had racks and racks of quality OA at affordable prices.  On one of my early (infrequent) visits I came away with an early Kirby/Stone FF # 31 page, two Daredevil pages (#s 3 & 4), an Avengers # 12 page  and a few other Silver age goodies for the cash I had in my wallet.
